Sustainability
The University of Sheffield has a longstanding commitment to sustainability in its research, facilities and outlets. In the 2024 QS World University Rankings, Sheffield was ranked 24th in sustainability globally and 7th in the UK.
Some ways we will be promoting sustainability at EAMT 2014 include:
Sheffield has good transport links with the rest of the country, including all major airports, meaning visitors can travel more sustainably once they reach the UK
The university campus is centrally located in Sheffield and easily accessible on foot or by public transport
The Diamond is a modern and sustainable building. It is highly energy efficient, uses recycled rainwater when possible, and is connected to Sheffield's municipal heating network
The university's food outlets and catering providers use sustainable and locally sourced (where possible) ingredients, including locally roasted coffee from a smallholder co-operative in Columbia, and local milk delivered in reusable stainless steel churns
